Roses From Denmark : From Sweden

I took a trip to Denmark in August / September . I was a refreshing trip away from the stresses here in Los Angeles. My mom was visiting her family in Denmark and decided it would be a great for me and my son to visit the family. I hadn’t been there in almost 20 years ! I took my film camera and took some shots around. I was a relaxing trip so not too much exploring but the cool think is we did take an underwater train that goes to Malmo , Sweden . It was a short trip only taking 30 mins and costs about 20 dollars each ticket . Europe is so much different from Los Angeles. Most people ride bikes and the pace is much slower and calmer than the hustle and bustle of the city here that I live in . All photos are taken using a film camera which I love to use while traveling because there is such charm in the results that digital cameras lack , the grain , the essence. The Slow pace of planning a shoot. The trial and error of not getting the shot you thought you got.

Double Exposure: In Denmark

Double exposure using a film camera to take multiple shoots on the same roll of film. I have experimented taking photos during my trip to Denmark and without removing the film from my camera, gently winded up the film and reshoot other scenes on that same roll. This created interesting results that I then went into adobe Lightroom to enhance the photo or covert to black and white. This is such a fun process and the results are unique.

Amboy : Route 66

Located off Route 66 in a nearly empty ghost town in California’s Mojave Desert. Between I-40 and I-15 Mojave National Preserve, a harsh desert landscape of volcanic cinder cones and sand dunes, desert tortoises, and Joshua trees.

Steps:

TAKE YOUR FABRIC AND FOLD IT IN HALF. YOU WILL END UP WITH A LONG STRAP ABOUT 45 INCHES LONG .

CUT THE WIDTH ABOUT 3 INCHES WIDE .

GRAB YOURSELF SOME ELASTIC AND MEASURE A COMFORABLE SIZE AROUND YOUR WRIST. LEAVE ABOUT AN 1.5 INCHES EXTRA .

GET A SAFTY PIN TO TURN YOUR TUBE FABRIC .

SEWING ALONG : MAXI SKIRT

This maxi skirt designed to be used with stretch fabric . This pattern is beginner friendly and only has 2 pattern pieces. 

Knowledge with using knit fabric is a plus. I recommend using a serger for sewing the side seams and setting your sewing machine to zigzag stitch for finish the hems. Personally I use a overstitch for sewing my knit hems which is a plus to have if you decide to sew with stretch fabric . Using wooly nylon thread in your bobbin and serger is ideal as is helps your fabric stretch without breaking any stitches. 

Seam allowance is included with 3/8 inch serger width. You may want to add your own seam allowance if you are using a sewing machine or fabric that doesn’t have as much stretch .
